A coffered ceiling, from the castle of Vélez Blanco (Spain), now located in Mexico City

This paper reveals that the hitherto unknown location of a Renaissance ceiling from the Castle of Vélez Blanco in Spain is the Hellenic Institute in Mexico City. This discovery is the result of a documented historical study investigating the various locations in which the ceiling was installed or stored after leaving Spain, from Paris to New York and finally Mexico City. Using techniques of photogrammetric restitution to analyze archaeological data, the author has been able to determine the characteristics of the original ceiling and in which rooms of Velez Castle it was originally installed.
