This study deals with the altarpiece by Giovanni Battista Crescenzi for the Jeronymite Monastery of Espeja, by using an old image unknown to specialists until now. The author compares this work to others by Crescenzi, as well as to the altarpiece designed by Juan Gómez de Mora for the Hospital of Antón Martin, thereby arriving at conclusions concerning their similarities and differences, representative of their aesthetic tastes. The photograph likewise reveals two of the six paintings by Juan Bautista Maíno for this altarpiece.
