Abstract

This article deals with the advice offered by four members of the Royal Academy of San Fernando in the eighteenth century upon being consulted concerning the restoration of the church of Peñaranda de Bracamonte (Salamanca), in a impending ruinous state. Through the reports submitted by Ventura Rodriguez, Alejandro González Velazquez, Jaime Marquet and Francisco Sabatini related to the plan, and the official report from the Dominican Friar Marcos de Santa Rosa, it is possible to discern the different approaches of the period to the restoration of old buildings.
