Juan Soreda’s pictorial oeuvre is scarce and is not located in the main centres of production of the Spanish Renaissance. Despite this, his importance in the painting of the first half of the 16th century is unquestionable, as is the influence of his style in the areas where he lived, between Guadalajara and Soria, around the dioceses of Sigüenza and El Burgo de Osma. In this article we add to his catalogue a signed altarpiece, located in the parish church of a town that in the 16th century belonged to the latter diocese: Valdeande (Burgos). On the basis of this contribution to the painter’s catalogue, we review other works in that territory that can be attributed to him, as well as outlining some aspects of the discourse underlying the panels with prophets and sibyls in Atienza (Guadalajara), attributed to this painter.
